I AM FEELING SAD AND LONELY TODAY
This picture of my parents was taken in the 1990's (guess you could tell by Mama's hair). I was blessed with the two most wonderful and loving parents in the world, and I thank God for that every night. There is not a day that goes by that I do not miss them terribly.
I am feeling sad because Mama died 7 years ago today. I am just trying to get through this day. This day does not get easier. Every year it rolls around, and I struggle to get through it.
Mama grew up in Charlotte, NC in a section of the City referred to as "Shuffletown". She was a model for Ivy's Department Store while putting herself through nursing school. (Wouldn't you know it - she was 5'10" and a size 2 on her wedding day -- I obviously got my frame from Daddy.....short and rectangular.) Daddy always said he did not know how he got the beautiful girl - he was a self proclaimed geek/nerd. Daddy was a chemist, and Mama adored him. She thought he was the smartest man she had ever met. Of course, he was a geek. One their first date, he took her picture. I always told her I would have run the other way...that was slightly strange to me - BUT Daddy explained it to me by telling me that he wanted to take a picture of their first date so he could show his children. He said when he saw her the first time (in Church) he knew she was THE ONE. When I would come home from college, I would find love notes on the fridge he had left her. He was famous for taking her lipstick and writing love notes on the bathroom mirror - RLH loves DJH. They had a great love affair.
I do miss them both.

Oh, my! I have tears in my eyes right now. How wonderful that you got to witness such a great relationship. They sound like very special people. I am sure it never gets easier, but I am positive that they are still near you and love you!
